Why Konekted Media was created

Konekted Media emerged from the recognition that Indigenous stories deserve to be told by Indigenous creators. Our founder, Jillian Waln who is Sicangu Lakota, gained firsthand experience in the media industry, working with non-Indigenous companies that attempted to capture the essence of Indigenous experiences. However, she noticed an obvious disconnect – these companies lacked Indigenous representation and often failed to truly understand and respect the intricacies of the stories they were attempting to tell.

By collecting and amplifying powerful narratives, Konekted Media aims to foster transformation within communities, believing that when communities evolve, the world transforms. Our commitment lies in the belief that storytelling is used to ignite meaningful change, creating a timeline of shared experiences that positively impacts both local and global initiatives.
